Missions Opportunities

Week Of Prayer March 3-10

Every year, SBC churches observe the Week of Prayer for North American missions by praying for missionaries, their ministries and their families. Because these missionaries make Jesus known in places all over the U.S. and Canada where there’s little or no gospel witness, they experience opposition and they battle loneliness and discouragement. That’s why they need your prayers.

This year, the official date for the Week of Prayer is March 3-10. Your prayers and gifts to the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering will fuel their work. The offering goal for this year is $75 million. Use this page or download the prayer guide to follow along daily.

Missions Opportunities

Concord’s Missions Center highlights a number of local, national, and international ministry opportunities for you and your family. Whether you would like to contribute financially, donate specific items, volunteer in the community, or go on an international mission trip, you’ll find a wide variety of options available here for your consideration.

Missions - Local

Monarch Jewelry – Crisis Aid

Crisis Aid International provides a transition home to those rescued from sex trafficking. Monarch Jewelry works to raise awareness and resources to support this cause in St. Louis by selling repurposed jewelry.

ITEMS YOU CAN DROP OFF AT CONCORD’S MISSIONS CENTER:

    • Used jewelry (ANY, including broken, fine jewelry, or costume)
    • Authentic silver-plated cutlery
    • Genuine leather

Or give online (select Monarch Jewelry in the drop-down menu) or write a check with the ministry name on the memo line.

OASIS International and Good Neighbor Initiative

OASIS works directly with refugee families (many of whom have fled war-torn countries and have heart-wrenching testimonies) to help them learn how to begin rebuilding their lives. Along with food, clothing, furniture, and household items, OASIS also provides English classes with childcare provided. In the Good Neighbor Initiative, OASIS partners with the Metro Baptist Association to help connect each refugee family (most of whom don’t know Jesus) with a Christian family in the area. Befriending a family is simple and can be as involved as you want it to be, giving a face to God’s grace and love for a family who may otherwise feel very alone and isolated in a strange new country.

ITEMS YOU CAN DROP OFF AT CONCORD’S MISSIONS CENTER:

  • New, unwrapped toys for our Giving Tree (these toys will be used for birthday and Christmas gifts for refugee children)

OTHER WAYS YOU CAN HELP:

    • Donate clothing, furniture, or household items directly to OASIS International
    • Volunteer to sort clothing
    • Help with English classes or childcare
    • Volunteer to deliver food or supplies to a family
    • Get acquainted with a refugee family and start including them in your family outings

WAYS YOUR GROUP OR CLASS CAN GET INVOLVED:

    • Sponsor a toy drive in your neighborhood or place of employment
    • Host a baby shower for a refugee mom
    • “Adopt” a refugee family for Christmas and buy gifts for the entire family
    • Sign up for the Good Neighbor Initiative to be an “American friend” to a refugee family

    • Volunteer as a counselor at either center (training and time commitment required)

WAYS YOUR GROUP OR CLASS CAN GET INVOLVED:

Additional Community Outreaches

In addition to the local ministries highlighted in our Missions Center, Concord also does other specific community outreaches annually.

Clothing Giveaways

We host two clothing Giveaways each year, one in the spring and one in the fall. These are basically gigantic, free garage sales to help those in need in our community. Donation details and Giveaway dates are announced several weeks in advance of these outreaches.

Spring and Fall Giveaways

Thanksgiving and Christmas Baskets

Each holiday season, we collect items to fill dinner baskets for families who need a little extra help to provide a special holiday meal. Donation details are announced several weeks in advance of these outreaches.

Missionary Partnerships

Through your gifts to the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering, the North American Mission Board (NAMB) supports more than 5,000 missionaries and more than 3,800 chaplains who serve in difficult places where the Gospel is often not welcome. You may give online at concordchurch.com/give (select Annie Armstrong – Easter in the drop-down menu) or write a check with the ministry name on the memo line.

Each year, churches around the world help support 4,800 International Mission Board (IMB) missionaries (and their 4,000 children) who help spread the Gospel among 900 people groups. We partner with these missionaries by collecting a special offering each December. You may give online (select Lottie Moon – Christmas in the drop-down menu) or write a check with the ministry name on the memo line.

This medical missionary from the St. Louis area brings medical care, water filters, and the Gospel to remote villages in Guatemala. Our monthly support enables Nancy Henson to continue to provide nutritious meals and safe drinking water, and to hold medical clinics, all while sharing the love of Jesus. Follow Nancy on her Facebook page at facebook.com/nhenson3 to see what’s happening in her ministry and to share words of encouragement with her.
