The Stone of Mission
Sermon #1: The Stone of Mission
Main Idea:
Storms will come to your house. How you build your home will indicate how you weather these storms.
Key Verse, Matthew 7:24-27
24 “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. 26 But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. 27 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.”
Important Principles for Your Family’s Mission:
- God made you each person in your family unique (Genesis 1:26).
- Each person in your, though marred by sin, is made by God.
- Since you are uniquely created, you are uniquely created for a mission
- God gave your family a mission.
- Work inside creation (Genesis 1:27-31, 2:2)
- Work is honorable
- Rest alongside of creation (Genesis 2:2, Ex. 20:8-11)
- Work with others throughout creation (Genesis 2:18).
- God mad you and me to need one another
- Work inside creation (Genesis 1:27-31, 2:2)
- Sin will disrupt your purpose in God’s creation (Gen. 3:1-19).
Our Current Mission:
- Communicate value and dignity of every person in your home in every circumstance. By communicating value and dignity, you pave the way for a person to step into their mission.
- Phil. 2:3-4, I will communicate value and dignity the persons in my home, rather than their performances outside of my home
- Recognize that everyone in your family has a purpose while helping them discover and achieve that purpose.
- Eph 5:21, I will support others as they pursue God’s will for their lives.
- Love beyond the 3-D’s by explaining God’s larger plan of mercy.
- I will demonstrate that actions have consequences, but God’s mercy remains regardless (Titus 3:3-6).
