- We Are the Salt of the Earth (13)
- Salt makes food taste better, and salty Christians are to make the world Better.
- Being the salt of the earth means Christians are to create a Thirst for God.
- As believers, we are to let God’s light Leak Out of Us.
- We Are the Light of the World (14-16)
- We aren’t told to be salt or light; these verses say We Are Salt and Light.
- We don’t create light; we let God’s light shine through us. We aren’t to be Light Bulbs, we’re to be Mirrors.
- “Light not only conquers darkness, it also reveals the Way Out of Darkness.” Martin Lloyd Jones
- “A community of Jesus which seeks to hide itself has Ceased To Follow Him.” Dietrich Bonhoeffer
- The goal of being the “light of the world” isn’t to draw attention to ourselves, but to Reflect Glory to God.
