Grace
Grace
Acts 15:1–5, 23-29
Setting the Stage for Grace
- If keeping a set of rules can make us right with God, the better we keep the rules, the prouder we can be.
- If we must keep the rules to be right with God, we must keep all the rules all the time, & no one is perfect.
Grasping the Certainty of Grace
- We don’t change the gospel, the gospel changes us!
- “The Thessalonians were throwing aside grace in order to try to earn their salvation. Paul was amazed someone would insist on attempting to pay for a free (and priceless) gift!” (Bruce Barton, The Life Application Bible Commentary)
- Christianity is founded on Jesus’ sacrifice, not on us being perfect.
- If we are to exhibit the fruit of the Spirit, it will be because we are cooperating with the Holy Spirit’s work in our lives.
