The Prodigal Sons

Verses: Luke 15:11-32

I. The Prodigal Left Home (11-16)

People who don’t grasp the value of delayed gratification cause pain For Themselves and Those Who Love Them.

Sin’s consequences are rarely Immediate, but they are Certain.

II. The Prodigal Returned Home (17-24)

Our worst mistakes have value if we Learn from Them.

Saying we’re sorry is an essential part of Being Forgiven.

Sin has Consequences, but it cannot destroy God’s Love.

III. The Second Prodigal Stayed Home (25-32)

Selfishness, the first brother’s sin is serious; but Self-Righteousness, the sin of the second brother is just as deadly.

It’s possible to be at odds with God, not despite our goodness; but Because of It. (Adapted from Timothy Keller)
