In An Angry World We Need God’s Peace

Galatians 5:22-23 | 6.29.25

Peace is a central theme in the Bible. The word “peace” appears more than 360 times in the Bible and at least once in every New Testament book.

I. The Source of True Peace

“Paul spoke of both Peace with God because we’re justified by faith; and the Peace of God which goes beyond understanding.” (Adapted, New American Commentary)

John 14:27, II Thessalonians 3:16,

Jesus described the peace He was talking about as

“My Peace” which means the peace He wants us to have comes From God and Not From Us.

II. The Challenge of True Peace

Isaiah 60:17, Psalm 85:10, Isaiah 48:17, James 4:1-2

You cannot achieve External Peace until you have Internal Peace.

“If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.” (Romans 12:18, NIV) This means, we are responsible to Do Our Part to have peace, but we must accept the reality that we cannot do Someone Else’s Part in the peace process.
